Aesthetic veneers | Esthetics

By zhouyu Ding 1523

To improve the aesthetic appearance of the patient's upper anterior teeth and address the dental gap, we designed an aesthetic Digital Smile Design (DSD) treatment plan. Additionally, we recommended crown lengthening surgery and incision lengthening to enhance the overall outcome. During the process, we collaborated with our technician to create a mockup and gingival trimming guide for the patient, allowing them to adapt to the desired height and length. Following a successful crown extension surgery, we proceeded to perform tooth preparation and impression procedures. Utilizing digital methods, we shared the patient's information with the technician. Subsequently, the technician created 6 porcelain veneers, which were then bonded to the patient's teeth. Initially, a small black triangle between the central incisors remained visible after the bonding procedure. However, after 2 months, the black triangle disappeared, and the veneers exhibited stable aesthetics. Even after 2 years, the veneers were still stable

A Smile Makeover; Gingival Contouring and Direct Veneers | Esthetics

By Maxstein M. Abuzaid 2269

Nature is the ideal model to imitate, and the comprehension of what nature looks or feels like is essential in aesthetic dentistry. One of the most crucial criteria in modern dentistry is the reestablishment of a patient’s dental aesthetics. Recent advancements in the field of adhesive dentistry have broadened and changed restorative dental practice. In fact, dental resin composite veneers have developed into a solution for anterior teeth in the modern dental industry with a tendency towards minimal intervention. Direct placement of composite veneers provide greater material control, require only a small amount of tooth structure to be removed, and is easily repairable and modifiable at any point. With the aid of digital designing and planning, clinicians are able to offer beautiful smiles conservatively with minimal loss of the tooth structure. It is a challenging case, combining the functional, aesthetic, and biological considerations to satisfy the patient's need.

Gingival Shaping with Provisional Crown on Natural Tooth | Restorative

By Paul Leung 130

1. Patient wanted to replace her two lateral incisor crowns. 2. This presentation will focus on the restoration of #1.2 only (#2.2 planned for future Implant) 3E. Free-hand Mock-up to help patient visualise proposed outcome. Wax-up completed to fabricate Acrylic Shell 3G/H. After relining, Black line = preparation margin, Red = Margin of Wax-up Flowable was added in the area between black and red line. 4. 2 Weeks after delivery of initial Provisional Crown The shape and size of the Provisional crown was modified based on Patient’s preference. Composite was added to Mesial of #1.3 to close incisal embrasure Final Impression taken 2 months later when the gingival level was deemed stable. 5MNO. Tooth Preparation before final impression. Preparation involved mostly refinement of the margins (Vertical preparation) as the tooth had previously been prepared. 5Q. Final Result of PFZ Crown 2 weeks after delivery

Management of an Implant Complication in Maxillary Anterior Region | Implant

By Chao Ji 311

This case report describes the management of an implant complication in maxillary anterior region for a 20-year-old patient. Two ailing implants were iatrogenically placed at sites 22 and 23, which resulted in significant hard and soft tissue defects. After atraumatical removal of both implants, a series of combined hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures were performed to achieve a satisfactory outcome with two implant-supported screw-retained crowns. Started with a free gingival graft to increase the amount of keratinized gingiva, guided bone regeneration was subsequently performed to make it possible for two narrow implants to be placed 8 months later. Another free gingival graft was done at the time of stage 2 implant surgery. In order to reduce the dark triangle between the provisional crowns, papilla regeneration microsurgery was performed. Two final screw-retained zirconia implant crowns were delivered and the outcome remained satisfactory and stable at three-year review.

Full Arch Digital Rehabilitation | Implant

By Dr. Tommy Fung 39

Digital implant planning plays an essential role in the execution of full-arch rehabilitation. In fully edentulous cases, additional challenges come from mucosal polymorphism. In this case, delicate duplication of radiographic / surgical guide intaglio and meticulous bite control allowed close-to-identical positional replication. Implant positioning was driven by anatomy to reduce the surgical risk to important neurovascular structure and to avoid bone defect. Selection of screw retained abutment with suitable angulation resulted in proper mucosal exit, hence the harmonious emergence profile development important for hygienic reasons. The fine-tuned implant position, angulation and depth were translated to clinical reality through a series of printed surgical guides. Permanent prosthesis was constructed based on accurate intraoral scan with appropriately designed scan gauge and specific scanning protocol. Professional digital laboratory support brought natural looking dentition back to life.

2-visit Dental Implant Treatment with the Help of Digital Dentistry | Implant

By Andrew Ma 312

Using intra-oral scanning and dental CAD-CAM technology, dental implant treatment can be completed in just two patient appointments with predictable outcome. In this particular case, after the implant was placed, the position of the implant was determined using intra-oral scanning with a scan body. The implant crown was designed and fabricated. When the implant was ready to restore, the second stage surgery was preformed by making an incision on the palatal side of the implant while preserving the inter-proximal papilla. The final screw-retained implant crown was tried-in and delivered during the same appointment. The flap was rolled under the buccal contour of the implant crown and no suture was required. This method offers several advantages. It reduces appointment times. The principle of "one abutment, one time" is achieved. Since the crown is delivered right after the second stage surgery, the soft tissue always conforms to the intended emergence profile.

Dr. | Esthetics

By Stella Ngai 84

The patient is a 11-year-old schoolboy, who was teased by schoolmates because of his spaced and unpleasant shape of his anterior teeth. Considering his age and the congenital missing upper laterals, direct composite build-up was suggested to his parents and was happily accepted. The upper canines were disguised as laterals by simply addition of composite materials. The median diastema was closed by composite as well. All the direct restorations were done free-hand. The post-operative photo was taken 1 month after. Some of the luster had faded and needed further polish-up.
